James continues with his AfroBeat project working with local drummer, Tom which is pretty cool, meanwhile, local vocalist, Melissa has also been in the studio to do some vocal recording.


One Nation Studio Studios continues to facilitate local diverse bands which is fantastic.  Great to see such diverse artists coming into the studio whether they are using the excellent recording facilities we offer or using our fantastic rehearsal space!

James has been pretty busy in the studio working on an EP with a local hip-hop artist known as Courage.

One Nation Studios continues to do workshops in association with the GAP Community Centre based in Warwick.  Recent projects include: "Recycled Beats" based at Woodloes Youth Centre in Warwick which involved 4 weeks of learning beats and then recording them as well as drumming with recycled percussion such as alloy wheels, oil drums etc.  Great fun to be had!

Another recent project was one based in Bidford-on-Avon, once again in association with the GAP Community Centre lasting for 6 weeks consisting of weekly 2hourly sessions.  The sessions involved an introduction to the programs they would be using, computer based software such as Virtual DJ, Fruitloops, EJay & Reason.  Approximately 25 young people contributed to this project which was amazing!

The aim of the project was to produce a finished CD with artwork.  So, following on from the introduction to software programs they progressed to creating an idea for a tune, developing that tune (in this instance, creating beats and rapping over them with a mic), editing the music, burning the music to CD and finally, creating a CD cover design complete with photos and graphics etc.

Drum Tuning Workshop

One Nation Studio's first drum tuning clinic was a great success on Saturday. We gave our space to local drum shop Dr.Um to present Jeff Davenport; the guru-anorak of drum tuning.  It was also sponsored by Remo who Jeff works for.  It was great to hear Jeff draw on 20 years of experience to give us clear and concise information and many useful tips and techniques to get everyone's drums sounding just right.  There was a great crowd young, old, male, female beginner and expert from all genres of music.  There were nearly 40 of us drawing on Jeff's expert knowledge.  I think everyone went away enthused and wanting to experiment.
